Antoine Bordeleau (1633-1717), soldier and farmer

To begin with, I should say that my interest in genealogy started several years ago, and that I have accumulated a lot of information on the Bordeleau families. In fact, the database contains about 13,000 individuals, of which more than 5,000 are Bordeleau.

On a personal note, I come from Malartic in the Abitibi region of north-west of Quebec. I have lived in the Kingston area for about 20 years, where I came to teach chemistry at the Royal Military College/Collège militaire royal.

I am currently trying to complete what I have for many areas, and I am seeking your help to accomplish this. More specifically, I am looking for information on your parents, as well as grand-parents if you know it. I could then look it up to see where it fits with the other Bordeleau data. Chances are good that I could link your data all the way to the first Antoine, whose story follows. If you are interested, I could send you an ascendency chart, similar to mine for your Bordeleau ancestors.

Antoine BORDELEAU dit Laforest [Jean (deceased) and Marie Villain], baptised on 1633-12-22 and married on 1669-10-15 to Perrette Hallier in Québec city (contract 1669-09-29, P. Duquet). Soldier with the Carignan-Salières regiment, in the Maximy company, he arrived in Nouvelle-France in Sept. 1665. Native of Dampierre-sur-Boutonne, greater area (arrondissement) of Saint-Jean-d'Angély, Aulnay township (canton).

His wife, Perrette Hallier [Jean (deceased) & Barbe Marignan] came from Bourg d'Égly, greater area of Palaiseau, in Essonne department, part of the area known as Île-de-France. Bourg d'Égly is a small commune located 2 km South-West of Arpajon. Perrette was part of a settlement program called "fille du roi", which meant that she was sponsored by the king (state) to promote the increase of families in the colonies. Born around 1650, she arrived in Nouvelle-France in 1669. According to a few documents, she returned to France after the census of 1681. She never came back. At that time, her two children Antoine and Marie-Louise were, respectively 8 and 5 years old. It is not known what prevented her to return to Nouvelle-France near her family.

This is but just a short summary of the life of Antoine and his family. I would be very grateful for any contribution that you could make in expanding on it.

I shall look forward to hearing from you soon.
